We're through the looking glass people...

A few weeks ago my front engine mount shit itself, and on inspection the to stabiliser was worn so i priced new ones a HH Adelaide;

$190 for the front

$110 for the stabiliser

$190 for the rear mount

I called a dealer in the states, Tri County HD, $253aud delivered to my door.

I know where Im shopping from now on!!!
Im wondering if it is the brilliant service we pay more for?

It's not just the dealers ,the Government are in for their slice too. Import duty, G.S.T. and i,m sure their's more.

Yep, it's a well talked about scam.  In reality we should only be paying the difference in the current exchange rate for parts and a small premium for the extra shipping.  But double the price is a scam.

 

I am doing a cam upgrade. As I said in the previous post, I'll replace cams, bearings, adjustable pushrods, and keep the silent chain setup with stock tensioners. (BTW, I had all of this delivered two weeks ago from M&M for $650). The stealer wanted $1192 for SE 203's, inclusive of cam service kit, tensioners, guides and adjustable pushrods. Fitting, $650.....not including dyno. WOW!!! This is a total of $1842 not including a Dyno. I have been quoted $260 to fit plus a dyno from an independant in southern Sydney. ,,,, SHOP AROUND MAN!!!!!!

I too have had this lesson in life.

Buy all my stuff from M & M Cycles or Chicago Harley even as far as thowing oil filters into the order.

Havn't spent a cent at an Australian dealership for about 2 years now.

look at the difference in bike prices ,we will be helpin theUSrecover ,

if you want slip on mufflers try HD development in Melbourne. last set i bought were about one third the dealer price.

we buy nothing here except tee shirts and even they are overpriced...everthing else is from St Pauls Harley USA...they always laugh at the prices i tell them...don't know if its the dealers or the added on duty but someone os making a killing...so shop around, with the exchange rate somewhat good, buy it over seas.

Have had a few things sent UPS and they are always heaps slower than USPS and twice parcels have gone missing but managed to show up once the claim process had started. Takes ages before you can claim and their customer service while they are tring to find the lost delivery is virtually non existant.
