Seat advice

Just picked up an FXDX but the seat doesn't relly work for me. It feels to low and to close to the bars/pegs.

Sitting up on the front edge of the pillion seat feels better.

Very hard to tell from the pic's, but the Badlander seat looks like it is higher and further back ?

Anyone have an idea of what might work for me ?  Cheers

Try some forward controls or highway pegs. I ride an FXDL with forward controls and find it very comfortable. The longest run I have done is 1700klm in 2 days and had no comfort problems at all.

Thanks for the ideas. Close call between the Badlander and the Mustang I'm thinking.

Forward controls dont help my dodgy back, but I will try some highway pegs though.

    Cheers

I have the Badlander on my Dyna, its not wonderful but def better than the stocker, has more padding. However, the pillion is terrible, more for looks than function. You wouldn't last 50k's on it!! The Baddie looks good though, I have the same mini pillion as in Obiwan's picture so it all looks nice and low..

And agree with Chong, highway pegs make a diff on long trips. You have the option of moving between them and the mids while riding, have a stretch & get the circulation moving again! I reckon you're best off with a biggish flat shaped footpeg, rather than the cylindrical shape, because the natural inclination of your feet is to rest on them at an angle ie. toes out wider than your heels.

We just got back from Mildura, and both the Mrs and myself are in pain, I really need a good touring seat for long trips.
Any suggestions? I can swap between that and the Skinners seat I have which doesnt suit pillions at all.

Borrowed a Mustang Solo to try out . Damn they are comfy compared to the stocker, and give me more leg room.

Pitty they dont look that good on the narrow Dyna though. May get one just for long trips, and modify the stocker for w/end runs.

i got my solo custom done by C&C as per pic below.
pretty good you can muck around with styles etc.
i would say mine sits me up a bit higher than I would like, but I am tall so probably not such a bad thing.

Put on a Le Pera bare bones with GEL and have found it to be pretty bloody good. Have done a couple of straight 10 hour rides and was OK at the end.

Did 400kms Sunday on crappy, bumpy back roads.  Spent half the time sitting on the pillion seat !

I like the look of the Mustang day tripper solo, but cant really see if it's much further back than stock.
