At long last!!!!

Well it's taken awhile!!  Been lurking too long and found lots of interesting stuff.

I've been riding for close on 1/2 a century!!!

Started on British. Never had to worry about oil changes etc as they had built in oil loss so just had to keep topping up with fresh lubricant. In late 60's and 70's had a range of Jap on and off road bikes. Spent many weekends at rallies across the Eastern States.

In '81 bought a HD Sturgis in the crate from B&S on Parramatta Rd, Auburn.  Still have it and the DJP sidecar that was attached when No 1 son came along. Am currently resurrecting this rig to get back on the road.

Current ride is an '05 Ultra Classic Electra Glide. Built for comfort and long rides.  Affectionately known as  "The Couch". Only mods are S&S Ovals and an SE air filter kit.

Looking forward to exchanging banter and joining some rides.

Many thanks for the welcome. Hope to catch the locals on a ride. Maybe this Saturday and the run up the mountains.

Philthy, the Sturgis was the first modern HD that came with a kevlar rear belt drive and in fact a primary belt as well. It was called the Sturgis as Willie G. Davidson, then the VP Styling, took a preproduction model down to the Sturgis Rally in 1978/79. At the rally it was hailed as a great bike and went into production in 1980. One of the last of the dreaded AMF models. The original Sturgis had a limited production life and are now sought after by collectors. A 10th anniversary commemorative EVO model was released in 1990.
