    Hi All,

I have a street bob and an electra glide. Due to dropping the Glide before Xmas (in the wet on a Victorian country road and still waiting for parts) I just took my Street Bob on a 2500 trek through the alps and loved it. I am thinking now I should drop the glide and stick with the S'Bob. What is the concensus?

I reckon 'glide would be a much better touring/2-up bike. If you planning on doing this type of riding, stick with it.

Sorry guys did not explain myself

Obiwan it was a diesel spill on a corner in the wet (late november) the bike following me (a few kays behind me and a Jappa I could at least ride mine thanks to all that Harley metal (rather than plastic) dropped it too - we then got some dirt on the spill.

No my point was the Street Bob went so well on the trip (especially the Alpine Way - wow Bright to Lakes Entrance so many corners) that I thought perhaps I can tour on it. Sure the Electra is better two up and on the main highways between cities but in reality I never get my Mrs on more than a day trip.

It sounds like I am not alone - yes the dyna solo was great. I will wait until I get the bagger back from Sys and then decide I guess. I think the weight difference is about 100kg so it does make a difference. And yes I missed seeing the diesel. cheers mate

I just done a 800 klm rnd trip last weekend on my bob , I've also got a tourer for long rides and the overnighters with the missis , except for the odd rnd town journey she won't have a bar off the street bob to uncomfortable for her .

My thought on the street bob for travelling long distances are it depends mainly on who with and how hard , i've done two 800 klm journeys 400 klm rides per day on it and they were both uncomfortable and hard work . one trip i was following guys on tourers , windscreens bigger heavier bikes , and keeping up at let say a fast pace was hard work .

Last weekends trip was with another dyna rider , we swapped bikes for a while and his longer shocks and burleigh bars made a differnce , on my streetbob i was like a parachute , in a head wind for 400 klm at the end of it i was thinking fuck that wish ui'd brought the tourer . with saying that on the journey home we done 120 klm stopped for petrol and i said to my mate you know we just done that 120 klm in 45 min , he said ,, fucking great in it ,,, i told him fuck off i'm not enjoying it i'm slowing down , don't want to play chasy anymore wait for me at the next stop , Once i slowed down to the speed limit and somtimes a bit under , feet on the highway pegs . and just cruising no parachute effect , it was a good ride .

Still would'nt tour 2 up with a street bob though. Great bike but they are aptly named
