Im after some info on fitting flush mount gauge on an 04 fatboy, I have the harley kit, Im wondering does the tank have to come off for wiring  and I notice the stock gauge has a float wire does this have to be fittied to the new gauge. any info suggestions would be great thanks

Scotty the part number is 62818-06d,  I have gone through the instructions and it doesnt say anything about the tube/wire the gives the fuel level, so i am asuming it is no longer needed. this being so how does the new gauge register how much fuel is in the tank?

thanks for any help you can give

I just completed this upgrade on my FXDF with the tank in place.

All in a fairly easy modification.

If you need any help let me know however I am sure Scotty will be the best point of reference.

thanks scotty, unfortunately Im not infront of my bike either at the moment (its been in the shop for near on 8 weeks for a simple repair job, im never going back there again) ,the last time i popped the stock fuel gauge out I thought there was another wire but i am well known to be wrong, just ask my wife.

thanks for the service manual pages I think i will have to purchase 1 as i want to learn to do more of my own work. on the bike.

all in all it looks a quite simple job, I just didnt wanna cock it up

    thanks again
