If You have a Rod and have found that the stuck on complance plate is lifting on the corners and you think its a good idea to pull it of and stick it somewhere safe so it cant get ripped of.. DONT!!...The first thing you will notice is the word "void " suddenly appears on the face when you remove the decal....The worse part is if you are pulled over the cops will impound the bike and let you walk home. The second part is you cannot get it registered until you go through inspection ect at Regency Park (Road transport in Adelaide) At the moment I am waiting on HD Asutralia to send me a replacement and then its back to Regency Park again for another inspection and of course more money. Not happy Jan !!!!.

Thanks for the info obiwan....I wished I knew all that last week !! would have saved a giant head fark.I would not have been the first and I certainly wont be the last especially on the rods as it cops all the heat rising from the motor ect so if yours starts to lift guys put some clear tape over it

Just a suggestion but would it help to put a bit of clear vinyl ie: Contact, UV stabilised vinyl like they use for car stickers & such over the plate to help it stay put in the first place? That might help stop the plate peeling off.

Dont know about other states, but in NSW if your compliance plate is missing, the vehicle is still legal. If VIN is missing, you have big problems.

The sticker on my heritage blew off as  I was riding home the day I picked it up (dec 08) have not had one since and have been inspected by police and EPA, nothing said. I contacted the dealer last week, he said it would take a month to get another one from HD AUS.

Update on compliance stiker. Spoke to HD Aus, they say you must have one, otherwise bike can be impounded. Spoke to Harley City in Brunswick. The say the rules have changed and you only need it when first registered. They would however order one but it could take a couple of months. Spoke to the Wed 12th at 3 am, phone call back Thur 13th at 930 am to say it was in. They need to inspect bike, and place sticker on. couldnt get better service (apart from them driving 120 km to put sticker on)

Typo, initial call was 9 am. I asked Chris, who is charge of the workshop what gives, as they generally took a while. After I got off the phone he sent an email to HD straight away. Got in to work this morning and there it was. think he said it was sent registered or something.  He said he was as surprised as anyone as they can take up to 2 months. Both he and the sales manager said at different times that the rules re having to have one had changed, but the HD Aus guy I spoke to said it was a must. All I know is that apparently they have one, and I have to take the bike in so they can physically check it (even though it was in 2 weeks ago for a service) and apply the sticker. He did say that he has never heard of one coming off before. Maybe the downtube had a bit of gease on it. I know it was on (but flappy) when i picked the bike up, and it was gone when I got home

Bad New good/news re the new compliance sticker.  1.5 hr trip to dealers to get it put on, wrong blood one. The one sent belonged to a fatboy in Capalaba (apparently its in Brisbane), I assume mine wne there. All apologies, new ome ordered ther and then, phone call 24 hrs later to say it had come in, and was the correct one. just have to find time to go to town again
