Went to do my first oil change today and totally fucked up what i thought was the drain plug must have been the transmission plug.Went to do the refill with fresh oil and must have put about a litre in and over flowed through the filler cap everywhere.So what i thought was the tranny drain plug undone that and dropped a little oil but no movement from the engine filler compartment the oil is still sitting at the very brim im at a complete loss of what to do confidence just blown right out of the water.

Thanks for all your guys imput this is a great forum and some really knowledgeble people in this forum.I do have a workshop manuel but i was reading the diagram wrong,i thought it was the right side of the bike instead of the left really had me stressing there for a bit so topped up with oil but will hav to wait till tommorrow to get sum tranny oil and hopefully all will be good,so once again thank you to everybody and im sure i will pick some more of your brains in future.

Yea mate was pretty stressful at the time and knocked my confidence somewhat,but my theory is if u dont get ya hands dirty and give it ago yourself you wont learn from your mistakes if ya make them like i did

Youtube has some pointers re oil change, filter change, clutch adjustment, etc. Might be worth checking that out too. Bike used was RK TC88

Yeah ditto Kiwi, i fucked up big time with my 84 FXST. I'm not telling anyone what I dun for fear of getting kicked out of the forum. It was sorted in the long run,but I had to tell the missus it was sumthing else. I'm glad she knows fuck all bout bikes!!! Ha Ha Ha. When I bought the rocka,I ordered a parts manual and workshop manual with it. Also,some nuts/bolts/screws are metric. I had to buy 19mm Allen keys for my rocka,(back axle). The parts manual is excellent for looking at exploded views of your bike,shits all over photo's. As well as ordering parts when needed,can't miss. Except for the prick ya give the part number too!!!!! Good luck.
