Has anyone removed the saddlebag guards from a road king classic?  Harley makes a saddlebag support used on the street glide (I think) but the catalogue states not for the FLHRC. Any info or experience would be appreciated.

Hey Spencer thinking of doing the same thing to give my passengers a bit more movement on the floor boards. OEM part # 49207-04 and 49206-04 are for the FLHX (street glide)-these will fit the kingy and will set you back $154.00 a side (priced at morgan and wacker gold coast). Im looking at a set of sumax saddle bags 2.1/2 inches wider than the OEM bags--has any body used there bags--Cheers Grim

I have an 08 RKC and when I had it delivered by the dealer a couple of years ago it had a set 46565-04 on them. I notice the parts book now says not for FLHRC. All I can say is they fit and have not given me any trouble that I know about.

Hey spencer swapped my rear crash bars for the street glide style---the part number I posted was right for my 07 but as Fr3d said he had another part number for the 08 kingy(frame change). Well worth it mate both in looks(personal opinion only) and it gives my misses little Scottish legs an extra 100mm between the bag and where the OEM bar fastened. I have a set of cavlry fiberglass bags that have just cleared customs here to fit when they get here. You can check them out on----cavalryfiberglass@yahoo.com--Cheers Grim
