VIZALERT - Radar and Laser Detection - any info?

After my latest contribution to the bloody revenue cameras here in Victoria (54k in a 50 zone for FX sake!) I've decided I've had enough. Anybody have any experience with the VIZALERT system for bikes from www.dontgetcaught.com.au ?  It includes radar and laser detection and is supposedly undetectable to the cops (except for the bloody great heap of equipment mounted on the bars!). At nearly 2 grand for the full system I'd want to be sure it actually works. The other thing I'm wondering about is how long it would actually be on the bike before some prick pinched it.

    Its def illegal.

It wont help you against fixed cameras. They dont transmit anything and therefore you cant detect them. Mobile cameras use a radar and are detectable, so it will help against those.

Check out the Passport 9500ci.. It is brilliant, jams laser guns and detects radar. Very very illegal in all states except WA tho.

    http://www.escortradar.com/store/passport-9500ci.html

the 9500ci is an integrated system, with built in GPS, laser jammer and radar detector. I would recommend it over the Vizalert for functionality. But it requires some customisation to work on a bike as it is made for cars. The Vizalert looks like it is ready to go on your bike, so it might be the easier choice.

Shop thru www.delonixradar.com - they are based in Western Australia where these things are legal. Jeremy is very knowledgeable and Delonix after sales service cant be beat.

PM me if you want details.

KINGKINGKING - thanks mate, I'm gonna check that out. Yeah - I know they're illegal but I'm bloody sick and tired of the bastards and I know I'd have to avoid a hell of a lot of tickets to cover the cost but its a matter of principle with me. I'd rather piss my money up against the wall than give any more of it to those pricks in the Victorian Gov. I wouldn't mind if it was going on hospitals or schools but their latest announcement is that their going to spend $20 MILLION on putting LED's on the Westgate Bridge to (get this) "compete with the Sydney Harbour Bridge"!!!!! Dickheads.

    Hey i feel your pain.

The problem is that people actually believe than speed kills, and that absolute adherence to the speed limit will eliminate all crashes. And besides that it makes lots of money. Its specious reasoning, but its very Politically Correct and profitable.

Its not about the fines, they are annoying but tolerable, its that they take your licence.

If the fuggin govt needs our tax money then they should have the fucking guts to tax us, dont do it by stealth and take our freedom at the same time.

LED lights on the bridge are important man. Its not like there are kids on the street starving or old people getting kicked out of nursing homes. These pricks should consider visiting planet earth. End of Rant.

I believe in any state other than WA, their "radar detector - detectors" will get you busted, and fine + confiscation.

These are supposedly "Undetectable" to RDD's but, colour me cynical, that's why I'm hoping I can get somefeedback from experienced users.

Yeah rjw- I'm cynical as well-- it will probably be only a matter of time before the Politzi rework their RDD's to pick up the new stuff once they know they are in wider use. Then obsoleto or fine + confiscation....
I brought one over from the states in the late 80's and it wasn't 2 months before they were banned and the RDD's were on the job. Teh technology may be better now-- I have no idea..

Good luck mate and hope you get the feedback.

The Passport 9500ci and Bel STI driver are both undetectable. Dont ask how I know, but I know....

Of course if they see the thing on the windscreen its not exactly undetectable now is it...

if a devise can slow you down prior to the police why is it illegal, beside the revenue in fines,
they must prevent (help) accidents by slowing you down the same way spotting a police car does making "safer" roads

By the time these devices alert you to the presence of Police speed guns etc. it's too late. None of these detectors work to stop you getting caught.

It's illegal to even purchase the thing.
So if you make it through that in VIC you will cop over $800++ fine loss of minimum 2 points, and they will take the unit off you (then possible shoot you).
In NSW they will hang you.
In QLD they will not know what it is.
In W.A they'll ask if you've been drinking and if they can have one.

Trust me, the QLD highway patrol have Stalcar Radar Detector Detectors and know how to use them. They will know what it is.

WA they are legal, so your comment there is spot on!!

    My two cents worth...

Hands up everyone who has repaired and calibrated Radar equipment - me for one, and I don't mean TAR, SSR or Marine radar.

Radar detectors are handy things but you have to know how to use them and all radar detectors are detectable - it is quite normal to hear the chirp of the local oscillator running in a radar detector when a car passes you.

When the police use mobile radar in their vehicles you have a very good chance of not getting caught for speeding but fixed radar installations and Slant radar (Multinova) will get you just about every time.

You would have to be right on the ball and be using an earpiece not to be caught when using a radar detector on a bike.

I use my radar detector all the time in the car here in WA and it works well but using one on a bike is hit and miss.

In WA the Slant Radar limits are set to 6km for the metro and 8km for the country - exceed those and you get your letter in the mail and I imagine a few of us will be receiving these letters when the backward facing slant radar  units are fully deployed. Country coppers don't have set limits to ping you - so always be polite when they pull you over if you want half a chance of getting off.

The Bel STI driver and Passport 9500ci are truly undetectable, the LO does not leave the case some how, dont ask me how it works. Get on u tube and you will see a STI driver next to a Stalcar and it is totally oblivious.

Multinovas are not in use in NSW, QLD or VIC (yet). If you want to improve your detection range against multinovas rotate your detector 90 degrees. They use a polarised signal. They are still tough to detect. your best defence against all cameras is interstate registration.....

Ok so im talking new technology.
radar detectors are ok but you can usually spot the mobile pigs.
I talked to a dealer the other day and he told me a little story about a guy who spent 600 bucks getting a system installed that worked by pushing a button and the number plate became a black square.
thats gonna work every time you go passed a fixed camera backwards facing multi nova etc.
and btw i feel your pain i know all the red light/speed cameras in canberra work coz i got booked by all of them.
i got 4 points left eek!!!!

To avoid being picked up by the police who are using fixed or mobile radar guns and your using a radar detector, you need to understand how the radar guns or multinova 's work. Basically, multinova's, being a fixed radar transmit at a low wattage and are placed at an angle of about 22 degrees across the road, this means that your detector wont pick up the radar until you are right on them and I don't think that there are many radar detectors around that can pick up a multinova at distance. The mobile or hand held radar guns are differant because they work at a higher wattage and need to be pointed down the road to detect the speed of vehicles. this means that your radar detector will in most cases be able to pick up these radar guns and give you time to slam on the brakes. Ride safe

if its 9 points and $1300 in nsw if u get busted with a rader detecter ,it is not worth the risk, takes to long to get the points back
