I have been throwing up for ages whether to fit HD's super tuner or a TTS........am tempted to go for TTS after reading forums here.....if i do.....and F%#@ up a little.......will dealers such as Trivetts work with those, not being genuine..?    Just that when i poke my head in their service depts.......they tell me not to look further than the genuine article.......seeing that i still get a dealer to service it, i don't want to cut my throat with them............my 09 lowrider is my first HD, so i am a little green re the dealers politics on after market gear........brian

I have an S&S kit in my 09 and every dealer treats me like I took a dump on the service counter.

HD have a policy of shunning everyone who goes aftermarket.

Personally I only take the bike to the dealer for warranty bits that break (eg the number plate bracket fell off), they piss and moan and try to figure out a way to blame S&S.

If you run a TTS and you melt something or burn out a valve or whatever they will try to blame the TTS. Its what they do. They make an absolute farkload on Stealin Eagle shit and they want to protect their income.

Mind you, the SE warranty isnt worth much anyhow, all SE accessories have 3 months warranty. When I bought my 09 i asked "If I buy a Screamin Eagle 113 kit for this bike what is warrantied if it blows up" - the answer was "nothing - 113s are for race use only". Hence I have an S&S.

The fact is the TTS is a better tuner, but the dealers dont really understand tuning anyhow (none of them can tune this engine of mine) and so they probably cant tell the difference.

You need to talk to your dealer and ask "what if I run the TTS and something happens to the motor". Make your decision based on their response, assuming warranty is important to you.

Also a lot of the dealers do not understand or know they have been using the TTS for along time. They sold it and installed it as the SERT for years. When we parted ways with HD they went with the SESPT unit from SPX. All anyone has to do is have the dealer open up there SERT software and go under "Help" and "About" to show them that the product was and is owned by TTS or The Turbo Shop which is our full name. One other feature we have in the Mastertune product is the ability to return the program to stock as long as you follow the instructions and make a backup copy prior to installing the units tuning.

Many thanks for that........i think i"ll feel the dealer out re a TTS.........the warranty bit doesn't worry me though..........dealers and their politics........funny though....that  Frasers Sydney now run a couple of Dyna Street Bobs at Eastern Ck drags...and hanging off their stock headers are S&S mufflers........hmmmm......must be low on stock with SE's i would say.............................................

Many many thanks for that info.............btw..........forgive my ignorance.....but is a "vtune" when you take your laptop for a ride to gather on road info..? and how would one go fronting up at a dealer for a service with a TTS fitted.? surely they would still service the bike.......?

TTS does not leave anything on the bike to give it away. The dealer will not know you used a TTS tuning kit unless they connect up their diagnostic equipment and read the programed MAP version number and information. I have not tried it myself but I've read of a few individuals that, when they first hook up the TTS, took careful notes on the version file names and notes information that was displayed. When they loaded the final TTS tuned map, they changed the file names and information to match the original's information. They say it would be very difficult for a dealer to tell that its not running the stock map. They may wonder why it runs so good, however :-) You always have the archived map to quickly reload before driving to the dealer for warrantee work or service. If you have so many mods that the stock map won't run, they will be more obvious and be more of a warrantee problem than the TTS I would think.

While my bike was under warranty I got it serviced at the dealer. As a part of the service the dealer claim to tune the bike. Can there diagnostic equipment adjust the map in the same way TTS does? Looking at a 1200 conversion for my 883 and looking at the TTS as the turner. Has any found a site with canned (base) maps for a converted 1200 sporty. Or does the TTS supplier give you a canned map to suite when ordered?
