Last night a friend of mine, who is just learning to ride, was struck from behind by a drunk driver in Strathalbyn here in SA.. The drunk crashed into my friend within the townships 60km zone dragging rider and bike down the road a ways before backing up off the wreckage and fleeing the scene with the bike exhaust still caught under the car.

Fourtunately a local resident, himself a bike rider, was able to render assistance. My friend was lucky; his bike is written off but he has only minor damage to his ankle. Good safety gear saved his hide! The driver later gave himself up to police.

I just want to say thanks to the good samaritan, and if anyone knows the driver of the white Ford Teltsar perhaps you could vigorously impress upon him how angry we are about this sort of behaviour.

Hope ur mates ok & keeps riding. He's seen (the hard way) just how dangerous some car drivers can be. The bastard should have his nuts kicked in.

From the sounds of it your mate was lucky to get away with only minor injuries. Hope he comes good soon.
