For some months I had a big issue with the Lowrider rear end wallowing bad in the twisties especially with a bit of speed up, tried different shocks, stiffened up the front end, fitted true track and fork brace, replaced both engine mounts but still had the wallow and figured it had to be something in the rear shock area so removed the shocks and bolts and had a good look around then found a problem. The top LH bolt was ready  to snap and the RH was also bent and cracked half way through, obviously these bolts were flexing and throwing out the back end cant think why this has happened, the missus is only a tiny thing. Anyway fitted two new top bolts at around $70ea, fitted original shocks and wound them up...and wallowing fixed, hope this small observation helps those that may have the same issue.

Never heard of that on a Dyna before. 70 bucks each for bolts...WOW.

I gotta do mine, i got new shocks as well, not sure if they come with the mounting hardware i better take a bo peep. I bought my mounts from Tri County HD in Ohio, front, rear and top stabiliser for $250 delivered, had em in less than 2 weeks, over the xmas period.

am expecting the same thing Mainey..... will be back towards end Feb and will be changing shocks and engine mounts. What I did notice with my bike was the cover for the top shock mount is cracked..... (red line points to suspect item), however I had not had anyone/thing heavy until then.... just some hard riding and a few potholes where I had bottomed out

I had the rear of my old 96 wide glide wallow real bad. It urned out that the spokes were loose. This annoyed me greatly as they shoud have been done at the 16k service.

the shock cover cracks as it is fixed, while the shock has a slight rotation during operation
if there is not enough clearance there, when the shock compresses, it rotates, makes contact, and cracks the cover
there is no issue, merely poor installation(by factory in most cases)
    definitely a warranty item
just ensure that there is adequate gap, and it will never crack again
it has nothing to do with hard riding at all
