WHICH ECM FOR MY 08 SOFTAIL?

Thundermax, Power Commander, SERT, who has the answer? I not looking for a race tuned perfomance bike, but I would like to install a V&H exhaust system and a SE hi-flow air pod. Maximizing the performance of the stock engine, and creating the look and sound of my individual Harley, would satisfy my needs to no end.

Thanks Wozza, I certainly prefer this unit, but I think there is a little animosity from the dealers, as regard the ease of operation, and the lack of aftermarket dollars required to maintain and operated this ECM!

I just ordered a Thundermax with auto-tune from mandmcycles (http://www.mandmcycles.com/), $860 AU delivered.

Ive got the T/max on my 07 softail. I rate it 100%.

The people who bag them don't sell them and want you to buy their second rate (my opinion) add on piggy back system. Then sting you for dyno time----each and every time you want to make a change.

The T/max can be as simple or as detailed as you want it. If ya like to fiddle about it will let you do it. If not it is just as happy to run (and improve upon) your chosen downloaded map.

Ragle all of these units are great. Weve used the pc111, thundermax and twintec systems. It all depends on what sort of coin you wanna spend. We now use the dobeck units and were that pleased with the performance of these units that we now have our own labelled "FUEL SHOT" version. Weve done many hours of testing with various systems and found that these units achieve the best Air/Fuel ratio, which is what youre ultimately trying to achieve. As far as fitting goes they are by far the easiest system to fit to your bike and there wont be any need for dyno tuning, no remapping as it uses a program not a map, and no deccel pop. Everyone has their own opinion of what system is better. Proof is in the figures. Bang for the buck you just cant go past em.

I feel the thunder Max is the go, I've installed 5 units now on friends bike and no complaints, I'm running one on my 07FXSTC and it pulls like a train. Last night went over to a friends house who has just installed cams into his 07FXSTI and it was a simple job addddddjusting the map.

NOW big tip when you install one of these units and you download your map ensure you follow the initilization stteps to the letter otherwise you will have problems, you must ffollow the instructions and not deviate from them.

By the way get it with the auto tuner and buy it from the States its half the price, as KC said he's getting his unit from M&M I've also dealt with these people and they are extremely reliable.

    Hey KC,

You'll love it once you have it set up and after you run it in for 100km or so.

Without a doubt Thundermax is the best on the market!! I have one on my 07 Fattie , 9 months later it is still the best money I have spent!! I also run a Thunderheart digital console which talks to the Thundermax whilst on the fly!! The displayed info available is unbelievable, you can choose what you want to monitor with the press of a button. That way I can see exactly whats going on with my bike as I ride it!! So there you go, I say well worth the money!

The problem you are thinking of is the Km to empty function on the rockers. Apperently they are working on a fix for it at the moment.
