Hi i have a 07 softail FXT 103 screaming eagle 211 cams heavy breather air cleaner 0.30 cometic Gaskets Vance& Hines bigshot staggerds with qiet baffles .

    Thundermax with auto tune .

i run a 491 base map and it pings bad i have tried adding 10 % fuel that helped a bit ,i have now reloaded a new 491 map and have adjusted the accel fuel from 5 to

12 % this also did not help ,i thought i had pick up some bad fuel from my 10000 km rid to darwin and back but since then its had 3 fresh tanks of bp 98 .

any help would be appreciated as this pinging is giving me the shits.

    cheers HBP.

Can you back off the timing in the Tmax? If adding fuel doesnt fix it then you need to pull back the timing at the revs where it is pinging.

I dont know the Tmax software, but I have had a bit of pinging with the new maps i have been trying and I have fixed it by:

Using the logging function to collect data and identify the revs, manifold pressure and throttle position when its pinging
Add fuel at just those settings where its pinging
When that didnt fully fix it pull back timing.'

When you said added 12% fuel was that across the whole map or just where its pinging?

Gday kingkingking i adjusted 10% fuel to the map the 12% was to the accelerator fuel ,going to retard timing by 2 degrees across the whole power curve and see what that does .

I wouldnt adjust the whole map or you will loose power

You need to find out the conditions that she is pinging under and only change the settings in those rpm and MAP areas, otherwise you risk loosing power and economy.

2 degrees wont help either. serious pinging is usually 6+ degrees. If you take 6 degrees off the whole map you definitely will suffer.

    Can the Tmax datalog?

Gday kingkingking just watched a video on adjusting thundermax timing to reduce pinging on youtube i think this bloke is on to it ,its a very time consuming process.

I have data logging but only hooked up to a laptop i do have a digital tacho thoe so i will try to see at what rev range she is pinging at and adjust timing in thoes areas

going for a quick blast shortly .

The Tmax has no knock detection but the TTS retains the factory knock detection. A Tmaxw will let your bike ping itself to death while the TTS at least has a go at fixing it.
