    G'day,

Just wondering who has got a Sputhe PosiTrac fitted and where you got it from and how did you pay for it. The reason is I can't find anyone else but Sputhe who sell them and Sputhe don't take credit cards over the phone or have a PayPal account, the only payment methods they take are Western Union, wire transfer, money order and bank cheque.

    Thanx

    Stinga

There is a thread in the touring section covering a similar product:

I have the progressive one on my 98 FLHT and it makes a big difference.

    Gidday Stinga,

I use the Sputhe Positrac. I bought it from Sputhe using a wire transfer. If I were to do it again I would send a money order, the transfer had hidden costs. Money order is cheaper and easier. I paid just short of $800 when our dollar was bad, it would be much less now.

I chose the Sputhe over the True Trac as the Sputhe item has extra locating bolts on the rear mount, this seems to be a good idea. It works brilliantly, all rubber mounts should have some sort of stabiliser fitted.

    Live long and prosper, Tux

    G'day,

Thanx for the replies you blokes, it's a bit of a shame that they aren't more accommodating to the international buyer and from the little research that I have done they seem are bees knees for the old girl. All the options that gave would suit OK if you were in a main land state of the good ol US of A, have not heard any good stories about Wester Union.

Tux what is a wire transfer is that just a transfer from your account into their bank over the net and if so how do you get around the ever changing exchange rate.

    Gidday Stinga,
Yes, the wire transfer just sends money from your account into theirs. Unfortunately it goes through at least one other bank on the way, and each bank wants its cut. This is where the hidden costs come in.
It is easier and cheaper to send a money order, I have sent many of these to the States and never had a problem. If I were to buy again I would use the money order.
There is no way around the exchange rate, I try to buy when it is good and hold off when it is bad. Not always possible though.

    G'day Tux,

Been down to the town post office and they do the Western Union money orders/cheques but the sheila didn't know how to complete them. So just waiting on Sputhe to send a quote then see how much the process cost, was Sputhe's service good

    Gidday Stinga,
I got caught by the hidden costs, so there was a bit of mucking around. If you use a money order there shouldn't be too many problems. Having said that my brother spoke to him on the phone and said afterwards that the bloke at Sputhe must have had a really good time in the 60's ;-)
Hope it all goes well for you, they are a great product. Follow the instructions exactly. They may seem wrong at the time but as the job unfolds they work out perfectly. Mine was easy to fit, especially the front. While you are there see if you need to shim the front engine mount. It's an easy job and worth doing.

Money orders to the US using Australia Post seem to be a Western Union transfer anyway

Yeah.. under half that now.... including Western Union .. which is crap... Western Union would even charge if I had added a note or special  instruction.... but, was totally prepared to do that.. as the reading on there product sounded excellent.. I guess he's selling more.. and can offer them at a very reasonable price....

    I know .. old post...

Have a look at bongous.com they will buy it for you then charge and ship it to you.

They charge 10% of the cost for the service

Excellent... to late for my Sputhe PosiTrac but a great option for the future... I don't know, if this would be so ... but, maybe the Western Union money transfer is 'cheaper' for the Vendor ???? Therefore, not having to pass those costs along to us ???? Just a thought.

... fitted the sputhe Posi-Trac over the weekend...... started mod on Saturday morning, finished Sunday afternoon.. have only been for a few kilometer test ride, before 'beer o'clock', and too and from work today. It is as there saying.. it's so far a most impressive change.. I'll email Alan Sputhe, ask for his hand in marriage.. lol
