I have a mechanical slide under and lift over centre type that gets both wheels off the ground and a hydraulic slide under and find that they are half a pain in the arse when lifting a Dyna or Sporty on your own due to having to get the stand out of the way but both work well. I fell much better when the bikes are on the mechanical one as it is locked in, don't trust the cheap made in india or wherever jacks they use on the hydrulic ones. The best thing I own is a hydraulic lift table, 1st down fall is not being able to turn the wheels, 2nd is it takes up a fair amount of space but it lets you see you bike from a whole different angle and you find shit that you wouldn't normally see.

I got one like the orange one, and it worked fine under the Softail, but haven't tried it under the Road King yet. I paid about $160 for mine. There is a more expensive one you see advertised in bike mags that is Australian made, looks tidy and well made but is a bit expensive. The imports seem to do the job okay, the bolts look strong enough.

I made a very simple lever action unit, similar to the one used to prop up the bike on page 109 in HEAVY DUTY No. 97. I used a continous bar across the bottom, insted of the wheels, and it works a treat. this unit will prop up either my front or rear wheels, you need only to guage the height you require, and make sure its wide enough, for the handle to miss the pegs. I made room so I could hook straps to the pegs or bars, but once up I was unable to rock my softail at all.(no puns intended).

Sounds like I got ripped off ?? I paid $180 for mine Do you guys trust the cheap lifts enough to use them without the safety,I haven't had any problems, just wondering.

I have one like the second one.

I think it's great. I use it for my harley and my mate uses it
on his Ducati and birt bike.

Have had no problems with it.

Ragle, just looked up the lift in HD magazine, I hadn't noticed that one before.

There is a similar version produced and if you get Motocycle Trader, the latest issue, 204 they havea similar one to yours on page 195. I have also seen a similar unit in Two Wheels, Australian made, and I phoned for a quote and it was around $250. Most of us only need this sort of lift just to make the cleaning of the wheels easier. Years ago I made a similar apparantus to fit under my Suzuki DR500, and it worked a treat. Based on the triangle principle.....

I have also seen another wheel spinner, it was just a low frame, with two small diameter rollers. Push your bike onto the 2 rollers and you can spin the wheel, that also looked simple and okay for wheel cleaning...........TC
