CAN ANY ONE OUT THERE TELL ME WHATS THE DIFF BETWEEN DOT 3,4,5 BRAKE FLUID  BIKE SPECIFIES USE DOT 5 BUT CAN YOU USE ONE OFF THE OTHERS

Pulled my controls of to get chromed and when I did poured the brake fluid in the res into  a glass  was a tan colour  looked like  a flat beer  .  Got some of the pieces back friday  started  to put them back together  but I wasnt sure  what sort of  brake fluid  was  in there  says use dot 5  but who knows could have anything in there anyway went out to get some dot5 but could only  get dot 4 poured some into the same glass  looked the same [same colour] but after a while the two seperated so I think Ill pick up some dot5  tomorrow and see how that goes  .Thanks for the info
