As you can see I now ride a Road King Classic, and I guess that decision was the result of hiring a bike, and needing a 2 up touring bike.

Last year the wife and I drove to see friends just north of Brisbane. This couple both have Harleys, a Deluxe and a Sporster, and we decided to grab a hire bike from M & W in Brissie. This was organised a few weeks before. Paul (mate) and I rode into Brissie on the Saturday morning and I picked up the Road King Classic, I think an 06 model, blue and silver. He headed back to his place an hour north, picked the the 2 girls and then went on a weekend ride. First night we stayed at the Kingaroy pub, and had a ball. They allowed us to lock the bikes away in the bottle department over night. Next night we stayed at a Motel (biker friendly) in Melaney, up in some spectacular hill country.

The ride was great and I was impressed with the stock standard quiet Road King, a perfect 2 up tourer. Only bummer was Paul got booked by a cop doing 140km along this country road, I took pics as the cop was writing out the ticket. It was amusing to us South Oz people to see a cop in shorts and long white socks, really looked nerdy........lol. On the monday morning I split with the other 2 bikes on the way back to Brissie and headed back to Morgan and Whackers. Guess what I got lost, and I was starting to get pissed off as it was hot and no one was being real helpful. I eventually got back to the shop by the lunch time, which was okay as far as the reental agreement went. The other 3 arrived there shortly after in the car and all went well. To top of a great weekend we headed to the pub for lunch and then went to see Wild Hogs at the movies, which really topped off a great weekend of biking.

Well the rental experience was excellent and I thought very reasonable, and I did get a bit of HOG discount. It's a good way to get to see if you like a particular bike before you buy., hence my new Road King Classic.

Anyone else tried the hire bike angle?
