Sounds like you want to look at a street glide for inspiration. Going the stripped dresser route is the way to go. From memory, anything from 97 EVO up to late 06 TC had the same frame hardware. The fairing, I think, had a minor change somewhere in the middle. The evo frame changed in 97 to a longer unit, lower unit to house the TC88. The earlier FLH EVO frame ran for about 10 years, then the battery was moved from a side panel to behind the donk in 93. The 93 FLHS was the pre curser to the 94 road king. I would think that the current streetglide tail light / plate assembly would fit all models. When I imported one in 06 (they weren't standard then, only on USA models), they were interchangable with all electraglide hole layouts in the guard. I had considered going down this route at the time, but ended up with an FLHXI as a base to start from. You can get the adapters to elimenate the rear crash guards as well for a cleaner look. It came up really good, however I ended up with a blood clot in the lungs, nearly died, couldn't ride for 12 months so I sold it. Putting around on an old softail these days.
