G'day. I asked this question in my intro thread but on Bano's suggestion i started this thread.

I'm after some advice in regards to the fuel sitting in my tank for a long time. I have limited mechanical/technical knowledge so i never jump into anything without getting info. With the fuel injection system on my bike, will syphoning the fuel out 'til empty and refilling it with new fuel cause any drama's to the bike? I know if you run an injected engine dry it's no good but what about syphoning?. Reason i ask is i have a brand new Night Train sitting in the garage minus open licence. 6 months to wait.

    Appreciate any advice.

hi, letting fuel level run too low can pick-up any dirt that may be laying in the bottom of the tank  mainly brought in from your local petrol station  & will get picked up to the filter , when storing the bike its best to have the tank full as to stop any condensation  happening ,   otherwise no problems,  cheers

My suggestion would be to keep the tank full, as mentioned above to keep dirt an and condensation out and prevent corrosion in the tank, when you get your open licence back and are ready to ride drain the tank and put fresh fuel back in and all should be sweet. You can always put the old fuel into the tin top a little at a time to use it up.

Would be a good idea if possible to give it a bit of a run every week to get the oil moving inside the engine, primary and g/box, best to get the wheels turning, if ya can't at least run it up in the shed.

And as smylea said, mind that battery.

Thanks fella's. I combined some of the above suggestions. Filled her up, then flogged it around around the 'burbs for half an hour. Fast acceleration and hard braking the whole way. Within the residential speed limits of course. Wouldn't have upset the affluent Eastern Suburbs peoples too much i hope. Shit those V&H big radius' sound nice. ;)
