I've been floating around and posting on the forum for a little while now, usualy in the "Classic Harleys" section, anyway, long story short i sold my Shovel and have a shiny new black xr1200 parked in the shed so i thought I'd say G'day.
No huge plans for the xr, just the usual tinted lenses, vance & hines system, air filter etc. I have to admit that the EFI / tuner / fueler / ECM / ECU upgrade thing is confusing, the more research i do the further i get from making a decision. Will speak to dyno bike and maybe dynoverks next week for some advise.
The xr is a blast to ride, great handling, good performance, superb brakes and decent tyres.
Your on my Turf now Dougie,,,,,,, I think you the only XR Guy here
I wouldn't rule out the Remus 2 into 1 full system for your XR. I put one on my (now sold) Orange / Black XR1200, with a Scotty TTS tune and airbox mod and would constantly see 200+ cruising speeds (On a private test track)
The Remus system comes with a quick release baffle that comes in handy when attending poker runs that are over zealously picked on by the Filth.
I only sold this one as I had a friend that didn't want to wait for an Orange one when they first came out, and offered me an ammount that couldn't be refused.
I hope to get another one soon.
Have fun on your XR mate, they are a lot of fun.
Regards Lofty.
Lofty, thanks for the info. Can you give me a break down of costs for the mods? pm me if you prefer. The remus system seems to be the one to go for but price & looks are steering me towards the V&H system. They certainly are a fun machine. If you're serious about getting another one, now might be a good time to ring around the stealers, mine is classed as a 2009 model but built late 2008. I rode her away for a shade less than $13k as some kinda super runout deal!
Just a couple of quick crappy snaps;
Went to the stealers yesterday, but all the cheap ($13K) XR1200's are gone Took my eyes off the ball with all the accident dramás in December.
Bugga
Congrats on the ride, I know how good they are.
Regards Lofty
hi, very nice sporty , very good buy at that $, looks like you have already been having fun on her looking at the tide marks on the tyres , ( have you check the presures in the picture they look a bit low esp the rear or could be just the way the bike is sitting on the gravel on the side stand , a very good model , good luck with her
Thanks for the compliments. Tyre pressures are fine, just been enjoying the corners a little to much!
