Hi guys,

               I was just running up the bike prior to a ride and I noticed what sounds like a chain knocking around in the tranny at the rear. Never heard this before. Any ideas? Its due for its first service on Tuesday but I don't want to ride it till then in case I damage anything.

It's a 2010 FXST.  I read elsewhere on this page some fast take offs in 1st with heavy rear braking can reset the primary. I just did that. The noise isn't as bad but its still there...

Had similar problem with my 09, dealer has even checked it out ... primary chain auto adjuster not adjusting properly, it can be "assisted" by giving a bit of a flick with a screwdriver or what you tried with a fast take off and heavy rear brake (no lock up's)

I've just clocked nearly 6000 k and mine has stopped knocking now, I think it has just adjusted itself as it is ment to, the dealer mentioned they are getting a few newer bikes with the same problem and are talking to HD trying to get a fix for it.

The dealer assured me it won't do any damage and is ok to ride.

I would mention it to the dealer when you get your service done though.
