Bought a kit from Ebay from a UK dealer, cost about 3 pounds and just under three for shipping. The little kit contains: five cable ties, brief instructions, the 12 volt socket and about 5 feet of loom, positive and negative with terminal connections.
Installed it in about 15 mins. I always cheat and cut the battery terminal connections in half to slide them in rather than fit them on the terminal screws. worked with out a drama.
Worst part is finding where to mount the socket. It's too big to have in the battery cover (annoyingly) - I have it on the right side of the sporty feeding from the battery cover on the left side - tucked in under the seat. Main purpose was to power/charge the GPS and I feed its charge cable aroudn the bars and have it with some slack down the right hand side, also lock it in with the seat where it meets the tank. Will be handy for other 12v items and I know some schmuck may one day want their phone charged.
Wouldn't hurt to have one of these permanently on new bikes (as well as some sort of tacho) but Sportsters don't even get fuel guages so I'll stop pissing into the breeze. Dead handy little item though, and nice cheap and easy install anyway.
