Hi Guys, I have a new FXST and I want to fit a better air cleaner. My dealer who shall remain anonymous insists this means I'll need a $700 EFI thingymajig which is much cheaper and better than non-HD EFI management equipment.

My question is, with after-market slip-ons, just a better air cleaner (hi-flo?) do I need to spend more on stuff I probably won't use unlress I keep buggerising about with my bike set-up? I thought maybe I could wander into a shop, get my bike tunes to the slip-ons and more open air cleaner. Oh for the days of carbys...

    cheers

Hilly13, yep, I'm out of my depth with EFI.  Dealer rep did mention the non-HD options needs places to fit hardware. Starting to feel like a wood-duck..

    Scotty, I'm in Perth.

Have been told a few times that you can do pipes/slip on's without out having to do the tuner or air filter, just fitted a set of SE slip on's and nothing else and am getting just a little of the ol' snap crackle & pop on decel, probably not enough to be a concern but annoying all the same .... so I am now of the opinion - if ya got the cash do em' all together.

When I got my Fatboy in early 08 I had S&S Mufflers fitted together with a SE High flow air cleaner.
I asked the dealer if I needed a Tuning kit as well and they told me I don't need to install one.
Obviously they didn't know what they were doing, Lack of knowledge with EFI in my opinion.

Although the bike seamed to run OK except when it got hot, start up was like an explosion in the cylinder chambers.

Lost confidence completely with there workman ship and now do everything my self inc first service.

After installing the SEPST (ex US $319) bike seems to be running OK, very minimal popping and startup when hot is a lot better.

TTS has all the good comments, myself I have the SEPST only because I was not aware of the TTS at the time and wanted to keep it genuine.

    Maybe TTS next time round.
