Anyone else out there tried Redline ATF in the primary ..... ????

Recently had a problem with the primary auto tensioner not adjusting properly causing a "knock" when cold, apparently this is becoming common.

Dealer checked it out did a manual adjust and put HD formula+ back in .... still knocked ..... rode for a few hundred km's and now no more "knock", I am thinking the adjuster has just clikced up another notch and solved the problem itself.

Just want to see if the problem could be oil related, I did find a huge improvement in gear shifting with the ATF, it being thinner reduced drag between the clutch plates and smoothed the shift, I do want to go back to using the ATF but not if it causing problems with the auto tensioner.

Thanks for the replys ... am feeling a bit more reassured that the oil was not related to the problem, it IS ok to use ATF and will go back to using the Redline High Temp ATF.

I've had no problems useing ATF Type F made by Valvoline. i've clocked up about 80,000+?k's original primary chain original alternator 01 twin cam dyna & been drag racing it from year one. i'm not having problems so i'll stick to it.
