    Hi all,

I  am considering buying an 87 xl1100 but im a bit wary as they are rare and its old.

Does anybody know if the engine parts are compatible with the 88 up 1200's and how much would a rebuild  be?  It only has 10,000 ks on the clock. which seems a bit suss but the bike is extremely clean .  The guy who is selling it has only had it for 6 months, (older gentleman) spent about 1k on it  and is now selling it. coz he reckons he needs the cash.  It rides great  and has plenty of torque but has a tin can sort of sound  coming from the front barrel area when reving it on the stand still, I dont know if this is normal or wether somethings up.. If anybody can help me out with a bit of advice it would be grealty appreciated. Cheers, Ryno

hi, try & go for a 1991 up  5 speeder model XL,      evo 4 speeder can hurt your pocket if your not carefull esp if you don't know how to spanner them, 5 speeder  is a stronger model , cheers

Cheers for that, iv heard that about the 4 speeds. They reckon the alternators go on them a bit and are weak and complicated too (could get costly). I reckon il save my pennies a bit and go a 1200. Kind of sucks though coz this bike is close to show room. Thanks for the info guys
