Front Tyre for Electra Glides

    Electra Glides "09 and later.

I rang all the dealers here in WA for set of tyres, the biggest one Frasers said we can order them in for you but don't know when they will be here, the one in Bunbury and Albany only had rears. So went to Bunbury for my rear this morning and got it fitted. Then they said we will try a D408 140 that fits a softy, I said sure try it..... and it fitted.

So you guys out there with '09 and later EG that need front tyres and can't get a D407, then get a d408 of a softy.

Don't believe what Frasers say on the phone

I rang Frasers in Morley chasing a rear tyre for my 08 Streetglide and they said they didn't have one in stock unless I wanted a whitewall one (which I didn't) - got the same from all the tyre guys in Perth as well.

Thought I would look at the white wall tyre at Frasers and when I went to have a look the next day they had plenty of tyres in stock (and it wasn't new stock that had just arrived) to fit my bike - work that one out! Obviously Frasers cannot reconcile their actual stock with their records

I don't like dealing with Frasers, if they can't do simple stock reconcilation what hope have we got of getting anything out of them.  For my money they are just plain fucking usless.  I just get filters of them now because I can pick them up of the shelf my self, then I get 6 at once.

Had a PM from Beeza about this and we going to share with you.

hey interesting swap over there Bob ,, fitting rear off a softy onto the front of the Electra Glide ! ... i did hear that Dunlops had monopoly on 09 + cruiser tyres & only dealerships would be supplied , just check out the rotation is correct on that D408 ? ... here's a link to V-Twin site and i'm understanding that the tread runs reversed between a D408 and a D407 ??? ... reversal could be an easy mistake to make if the fitter takes his eye off the ball "as they say " ? ..  SO ARE YOUR FRONT & REAR TREADS OPPOSITES ?? ..

    Hey beeza

Yep they are opposite tread on front and rear, and it's a front tyre from a softy not a rear.  Seems to handle ok but have only done 200 k on it so far.  Even Harley dealers are having trouble getting tyres from Dunlop for these new bikes so SWHD told me on monday when I got the new tyres.

     Hi Beeza

One of the guys I ride with on wednesdays has a new Fatboy and his tyres are opposite too, my new front tyre is the same size as his so I guess thats where mine was ment for.  Did 440k yesterday and handles no different from the standard EG tyre.

My be we should post all this info on the forum for others to use??????

as per previous post i put up about irregular wear on the touring bikes front tyre,

and subsequent hd bulliten advising dealers of the faulty D407F tyres

the D408F will be replacing the D407F all the way thru and yes, their "quick fix" will be a reversed tread pattern

              just my 2 cents worth

cheers and a belated merry xmas to all

ps. there is a lot of info about this issue on the US forum site
