New bike warranty question.

Looks like the time has come to shout myself a new set of wheels. Was talking to the stealer about new bike warranty and where it all stands once new pipes / air filter / ecu are fitted. His reply was something like "Should be right as long as we supply and fit the parts......". Sure i see where he's coming from but the parts prices were ridiculous, even with the 10% new bike customer discount but fitting,  $220.00 to fit a set of exhaust pipes? F.F.S.!

A big part of buying a new bike will be the warranty and piece of mind so i dont want to lose that but i don't need to be relieved of any more cash than needed.

Will my warranty be void if i buy and fit those parts myself? I am a qualified mechanic.

    Has anyone sucesfully challenged it?

Will the warranty still stand if they supply and fit the parts? Even if the bike ends up at another dealer?

Suprise suprise, I'm having trouble getting clear answers from the dealer!

To me, if i fit the same make and quality parts (Vance and hines and K&N) as the dealer and they can't prove a workmanship issue against me the warranty should stand?

    Thoughts? Anyone?

If i had the cash to upgrade, i`d be looking at the 65 pan Colts got at HD DEVELOPMENT.

Everything everybody has stated on this thread is what does happen. The f'kin bullshit you get from some of them when buying a new bike can leave you speechless. With warranty, sales say one thing, the service dept will tell you something else, so your head is spinning like a top after the whole experience. After five new HD's over the last fifteen years, plus several Jappers and Italian, I've settled on an old carby model softail that hasn't missed a beat as my "keeper" before retiring. I won't be able to update annually after that. I can say though, that the whole HD purchasing experience leaves no time for being bored shitless, albeit an expensive way to pass the time.
