How different are US maps?

I need to use a US Map on my PCV just until I can get a custom map on the Dyno..... and I have a few questions

    1. Does anyone have any firsthand experience of running a US map in their bike?

    2. Exactly how different are the US maps compared to ours?

    3. Will I be doing any damage by using a map that is not 100% accurate?

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.... Cheers, berms

The built in MAP assumes the Stochiometric point of the fuel, basically the A/F mix that burns 100%, with a safety margin. Those varies from place to place. US MAPs uses 14.7, other counties use something else. Not sure if that makes your bike too rich or lean for your fuel, but if the bike runs and does not over heat (throw a code) it should no be harmful. Just take it easy, I think the PCV is set to run rich to begin with.

Yositime,  thanks but I don't plan on finding out "the hard way" when my bike overheats and throws a code..... that is the reason why I'm asking these questions.

Hopefully someone has run their bike with a US map or knows how close or different the maps are.

    Berms.

I have been running a US map on my PCV for approx 1000km's bike is a 2009 FXDC with a set of 2 into 1 V&H big radius and a SE heavy breather, bike has run fine for this period of time plugs are a good color with no decel popping i have been using 95 octane fuel.

I have just completed a engine build this weekend 103, cams , and lght ly ported heads  when i started it for the first time with the original map it run like a pig and would not idle, i loaded another  US map for the upgrades i have just  done the bike fired up first hit and idled fine,  it seemed to be very responsive when given it some stick all be it a bit rich. I have not taken it for a ride as yet as it has been raining all day  , but all indications so far tells me it will be in the ball park.

I am going to get the bike on the dyno after christmas and get a custom map done, thinking seriously about the auto tune after it is dynoed just to keep in a good state of tune,  hope the above is of some help.

Thanks for the reply Spinner...... just needed to know that the US map is close enough to run for a short while without risking any problems or engine damage.

I thought about getting the autotune, but for me I don't think I would go through enough different riding conditions or changes of performance parts to get my $350 worth.
