Modern policing is seemingly all about shortcuts nowadays for misdemeanours anyway. Take a speeding allegation. "Excuse me, can you tell me why you were speeding?" - as soon as you agree or concede that fact, the infringement will stick in court, regardless of the method to measure or snare you was actual under protocol. Its like using illegal phone taps to put the heat on getting an admission.
