Hi, recently after riding and stopping in traffic and lights the heat coming off the Bike. (ULTRA) is unbearable and is actually feeeling like it is buring my jeans. I have opened the little slots at the front of the bottom fairing but it makes 0 change unless your moving.

Has anyone else exeperince this, as I have had 4 ultras from 1995 - 2008 and this bike is the one which I am feeling it the most.

 

could it be the tuning making the engine too hot.

I am not a techy, so have no idea.

MY FLHTCU HAS HEAT SHIELDS FITTERED MAKES A BIG DIFFERENTS TO HEAT OFF ENGINE

I had this problem on my Ultra
Pipes, aircleaner and race tuner + these little plastic guards under the seat (they look ok) worked for me.
it still gets hot though, I took the slides out from the lower guards and this improved it a lot. basically fixed except for bad traffic in the heat

I prefer my dyna to ride, the ultra is not a town bike

I had the same problem on my 08 Road King . After trolling through the US HDForums I ordered some RJSOrigionals heat shields from the states - they are made from aluminium I think and covered in a vinyl very similar to the seat . They are simple to fit unlike the plastic Harley ones  and when complete if you email a phot of your bike to the maunfacturer/supplier they will check if you have them sitting correctly and they work very well . From the US HDForum site they appear to be th pick of them. Price from memory was US $140 plus freight. I also purchased some polished aluminium covers that cover the top half of the passing lamps from the same crowd  - seems brighter as it reflexts light back in and our bottom half of light and adds more chrome to the front. If I can find some time and work how to add photos I will add them ( Where do I look for instructions on adding photos ??)

Hye BLUEYSTAR, I ended up just getting the Harley Heat Shields fitted to the BIKE and WOW. What a diferance it has made when stopped in traffic. ALso on thehighway it seems to be running cooler. I also swapper the mirrors to the Glide Mirros which sit inside the fairig which really gives the bike new lines. More MODS coming. Waiting on the Bad Wetaher to lock h bike up in the garage.

REMOVE THE H-WAY PEGS FROM THE FINGER BURNER AND NOW ON THE ROAD SWEEPER
PITY THE MOTOR WONT FIT IN THE ROAD SWEEPER

113 !!! Nice one. I found the 110 on mine made a huge differance in the uphill rides. Love the extra torque... have nice weekend.
