Hey All,
Wondering if you could answer something for me.
A few weeks back, I cracked the top pipe on the exhaust of my 08 Street Bob. The bike's running fine, but I need to get it fixed. I was taking a nice right hander around a local roundabout, the pipes started to scrape, and all a sudden, the bike's louder and the muffler's covered in soot.
I took the heat shield off, and sure enough, the top/rear pipe is split straight through right before the muffler. For the time being, I've closed her up with a beer can and some hose clamps (and the Mrs has to watch her toes for the mean time), but I was wondering if:
A - Anyone in the sydney area knows a good welder / exhaust specialist
B - If I just took the mufflers off (screamin eagle) and got some caps welded on the end of the header pipes (maybe with a torque cone) - would that be sweet after a dyno?
My fear is, as long as I keep enjoying right handers, I'll probably keep screwing the exhaust up. So maybe it's a good idea to just make the exhaust shorter?
Any ideas?
Cheers mate - will do.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Hey Mate,
Just wanted to give you the heads-up; took it to the dealer (Trivetts) and they replaced it on warranty no worries.
I'll take it a bit easier on the right handers (for a while), but may look at getting either shorter or upswept pipes in the future. Cheers for the advice,
Simo
