I have some shit from melted shoes on my chrome heat shields on the Road King exhausts.

Does anyone have and marvellous idea's or techniques for removing this ?

Somewhere along the way, I seem to remember someone telling me to get it hot and use a piece of wood to scrape it off. Has anyone tried this ?

Dig aroung, and find an old 1 or 2 cent piece.

Heat up the pipe and lightly scrape off the rubber with the copper coin.

I used this before and it works a treat!!

You MUST use a copper coin!!!

    Cheers

Someone suggested that I use steel wool a few years ago. Did it real light but still scuffed the chrome so don't do it that way.

If you use steel wool, go to a hardware store and ask for 0000 grade.

Don't use the stuff the Missus scrubs the pots with!!...................

hmmm copper coins....I have some I picked up in my travels, so i cazn give it a go with that.

Rgr, steel wool bad.... I have used the real fine stuff before to clean old rusty chrome and it came up allright. i'll try the coin thing first and see what happens.

    Thanks all

My Mrs does it all the time with her bike boots !!!!  Acrylic thinners, cold pipes has always worked for me. In fact, I keep a container of thinners, kerosene, turps, meths, white spirits, Meguirs Final Inspection, Solvol Autosol. One of them always solves the problem. On a hot day I have been known to drink some...hehehehe.

cold pipes and a brand new thin wilkinson sword razer blade, works a treat with no scratches or staining.
