Should I do this?
Dyna Ignition
EV27 Cam
Andrews Adjustable push rod kit
Mikuni HS42 carby Or should I keep the standard CV carby and just re jet it to suit my needs?
Torrington cam bearing
Hi flow air filter
Ive travelled 70,000KLM to the day. It gets ridden every day(all most anyway), at the moment It has never failed me but it is stock standed other than the pipes & Hi flow kit.
I want to acheive more bottom end power but still have super reliabllity on long trips?
thoughts anyone in the know?
If its given you 70,000 k`s trouble free, leave it, in my opinion i would not try to hot up a 70,000 k motor, it will put stress on an already worn motor and you will soon have a failure.
Rebuild the bottom end and the top end then go for an increase in compression and have someone (that is someone who knows) specify ign, cam, pipes then look at the g box, clutch belt, if you hot up the motor alone some of the driveline will be prone to fail.
What you said is what I'm thinking too. Better to wait and do it properly aye.
Actually Scap that, I dont think that for the amount of extra horse power the mods will make to the motor it will stress anything out too much!! Cheers Daniel
What's a rough guide on the price to get these mod's done???
Sparra...
I must stop comparing all harleys to shovels, good points from people with actual experience, with all that reliability what do you guys do over winter
I've put EV27 & ignition in two mates bikes recently, both used the rejetted CV carb, they have over 80000kms, they now go much better than stock & the owners both said they should have done it years ago.
I also fit new Lifters & cam bearings for peace of mind.
If you remove rocker covers etc. you can use original pushrods.
hi, you don't say what model bike & year , pre 91 -92 have the stronger torrinton inner cam bearing stock , but if you are looking for a bit more & it's about time for a top-end job anyway new rings & a head service , a new cam & inner bearing & new cam followers at least. crane 310-2 work's well in a heavy bike like s/tail or dyna take -0.020" of the heads & 0.008" - 0.010" of the bottom of the barrel as this will help with squish & barrel gasket surface sealing , if your not a flogger the stock carb modified is good . cheers
Well due to christmas and the new arrival of Mya I have only ordered the bare minimum for the minute.
Torrington bearing
Andrews adjustable push rods
this should do for the time being.
