hi . ok this my second 883 , and the look of the iron won me over so just about to trade and and get another 883 engine . but would like to up the engine to 1200 , the dealer has quoted 3200 plus labour so i imagine $4000.00 .is there any body here in sydney that can help me with this convertion plz and has completed it successfully

 

 

If you're trading up why not just buy a Nightster, it's basically a 1200 Iron.  You'll end up paying the same if not more for a conversion.  Plus you'll have a factory 1200 not one that's been converted, better for resale. 

For me converting an 883 to 1200 only makes sense if you do a bare bones conversion, at least that way you save a few thousand off the price of a 1200.

All depends on how and who you get to do the conversion.  I proved with my 883/1200 conversion that you can do it for as little as $1200.

Even with a full 1200 conversion, ie heads, barrells and pistons I reckon you could still do it for around $2000.

Ya iron looks great , and iam sure goes great too , but I'd still be interested in finding out more on the 1200 up grade , seen a few kits for $500-$600 but none have the
full matt black finish of the iron here's the link to the kit

This is the same kit as the one I used on my '07 883.  If you want fully black barrells all you have to do it paint them.  Personally I reckon the milled fin black jugs would look great on the Iron.

yeh i found out a full 1200 conversion can be a lot dearer than a basic conversion ..if you just want a bit more torque the kit kingchops did is the go if you want to up comp and add cams then you want 1200 heads(buell heads) $1400 +1200 clutch spring $200 fitted ,if you up the comp you'll want to to add oil cooler 350 +fitting(easy job) with cams you'll want better springs or if you get screaming eagle heads they come with h/duty v/springs but you need shortened pushrods $200 .....then you want a good dyno $400-00
a basic smooth and port job $800 etc etc

my mate did the 1250 nhrs kit plus screaming eagle heads pushrods ,oil cooler stg 1 port plus mikuni carb close to $4000-00 and we put it togeather!!
