Bike lift under Road King

I have one of those bike lifts that you roll under the frame and pump up the jack raising the bike.

I used it a lot on my last bike, a Softail, great for washing wheels and tyres.

I was wondering if these jacks do work OK for a Road King? Reason I ask is the extra weight of the bike, approx 50kg, and there is a cross brace at the back of the frame underneath, different from the Softail. Getting at the back wheel is a hell of a lot harder with the Road King even if you remove the bags.

    Any thoughts on this................................TC

Depends on the brand of the lift and what it is rated to lift.Mine works fine.

I've answered my own question recently, slid the lift under the bike and it fits fine, and worked. One rail actually fits in line with the cross bar under the frame.
Would love one of those complet bike lifts that they use in the workshops. That will have to be another prority......much later.

The full bike lift is ok to get the bike up to a workable height, but you still need a small lift to fit under the frame if you need the wheels free to rotate

HD that looks like mine with the extra bits on it.......mine doesn't have the push handle or the foot release. To lower mine I have a small knob on the back ot the jack and you can turn it slightly to lower the bike down gently, no problems. Mine was about $150 and worked all okay, no maintenance required before use.
I also had the height problem when sliding under the bike. I just run it up on two bits of large wood, about an 1 inch at the front and half an inch at the back. In fact the back wheel I run up on an old nylon cutting board from the kitchen, works a treat. Need enough room on the board so that the bike doesn't want to run off, forwards or backwards. Naturally it also helps to have the side stand sitting on a block of wood about an inch high as well.. I don't bother with tie down straps, never did when I used it on the Softail either. I always give it a gentle rock just with the wheels just off the deck before pumping up higher.

    Gday all.

Having not seen a tourer with its bags stripped off before, are all the batterys on baggers positioned in the same location as like the one in harleyglides photo or this a position only found on older models. Cheers

Hoodaman, I removed the seat strap as soon as I got my RK, as it's a pain in the ass to get to battery like that. Much easier without the strap, what are they used for now????

I have to tip my bike straight to get it off the side stand also, it must be an inherent problem with all bike lifts I would think...
