I have had several motorcycles in the past some of which I had to wait several months for delivery, but I have usually been given a date that delivery was expected, and in turn was generally correct. But HD is the exception to this. I have had a HD bike on order for the last couple months and I always get the same response (if any response) when enquiring how far off deliver is . they have no idea just say it should be soon. if I ran my bussiness and said i will have a guy on site soon and not be able to say when soon would be, my potential customers would go elsewhere.
Is this a normal experience dealing with HD, it is certainly not leaving me with much confidence in the brand, how is obtaing parts and scheduled servicing for these bikes, are these going to be the same dificulties as purchasing the bike.
I specifically went through the main dealer here in the West thinking i might get better service, I guess i was wrong there.
I had the same prob in 2006-7, main dealer in Perth couldn't give me a definate date albeit 8-9+ month wait...I had rung Newcastle and they had the bike I wanted on the floor but couldn't and would't send it here.....The local dealer also let it be known that for me to source a bike elsewhere over East would be problamatic for them and me!!!!.....
So I went to SW HD and still had to wait 7 months.....That was when the economy was in full flight.....Now that the yanks have reduced production I would emagine it won't get any better....
Harley Australia apparently have quotas for all dealers and they can't or won't fast track anything....

Dealer just called I have been advised that it is in a box in Sydney and will now be 2 weeks min. to get here, so probably after christmas/new years now. Ok I can cope with that,
I then asked the dealer about the pipes i ordered as well, answer was that they won't be done at delivery because of licensing issues but will be done at first service! (bugger I wasnt going to go back again)
If this is the case why do they sell them as an option or am i having the piss taken out of me now?
I didnt ask about the wheels I ordered as well I thought i might be pushing my luck and the truck might get lost coming over the padoch
maybe check out near new 2nd hand HD's that are for sale , no waiting required ..
