You are running a points set-up.
The condensor is the little blue chip on the points set . Accel sold a kit
that had this electronic condensor and a backing plate with no provision for
a stock one. ( no biggy, if you wanted to you could drill and tap a hole for a stock one

first time i`ve seen one like that, its good to learn something new every day.

Sent a PM to Kymbo, as you are local and I should be able to pick up the parts.

Thanks Dave, I will call you if I can not get hold of Kymbo.

    More soon.

Thanks to Kimbo, for the chat and parts to try.

After 2 days of kicking, I think I have now killed the new battery as that no longer charges.

No luck the bike will not start, tried known working points/cond, coil and even a spare carby (from Kim) the bike refuses to start. Put in new plugs still no go.

Sorry guys I have really had enough of this. I have booked a trailer and going to drop it off at K&M's on Monday. I will report back with what was wrong, not how much it cost.

Thanks again for every one's help.

Okay, given I had one more day before I took it in, I looked at Kiwidave's last comment and one word jumped out at me. SPARK!! I had just picked up 2 new spark plugs and in my mind I had changed them... but when I checked just then, nope it still had the old ones.... (looks like I was swapping around old plugs thinking that they were new)

Needless to say, I put in the new plugs and gave it a kick (battery still dead) and the bloody thing gave a coff... 2 more kicks and off she went. This is with Kimbo's carby that is not even connected as the cables are different. This bike has never idled, but here she is ticking over no cable no chock.... (Kimbo we will talk about how much you want for your curby).

So.. Thank you every one, it turned out to be a SPARK plug, and yes I would have been kicking myself Kiwidave!

Next is to make up a new cable and get an air cleaner for Kimbo's carby.

So nice to hear the throb of the Harley!

    Great news Troy,

It's the little things that lead you to believe that God has a sense of humour.!!!!

Dave's tip on plugs is spot on NGK BPR5ES-11 is the plug to use, It's also the one I use for my Evo.

I used to run Champions,  but had a  bad batch come my way and after trying Bosch as well I settled on NGK's.

Don't know if you need  stuff, but I've got a set of pull/ push Throttle /Idle cables sitting in the garage as well. If Dave's

one doesn't fit  let me know and I'll post them.

And think, your missus now has more experience hitching and using a trailer than most blokes.

    Regards,

    Cris

Thanks Dave, but looks like I have a screw in type, Cris, is your set a screw in type? If so let me know and I will PM you my address again.

Any suggestions on the best location to get a simple push on / clamp air cleaner (66mm / 2.6 in) My S&S is the 3point screw but Kim's is a clamp style.

Thank, The wife was so happy to hear the bike going she gave me a good kiss and .... So was worth the time working through this.

Bugger Troy, my cables are no good to you.
Try Dave's suggestion and put the old carb in, if id doesn't run OK get Kymbo's or a CV.
You can always flog the Super B on ebay to recoup costs.
Glad you got lucky, the best things happen when you can hear that Harley sound.

I put the s&s carby back on, the bike started (after some kicks) and ran, however after it got hot, started to cough out the carby and stopped, so I am guessing it is too lean. Too late to be reeving the bike so will take a look tomorrow. Still think this carby is my problems, looks to be build for the drag's as it just likes to rev not idle.

Feel the best way forward is to change the carby as it ran very smoothly with Kim's on.
