Who is the best insurance company to insure with? I just got my renewal from Swann and it has gone up a $100.00 and they have dropped the agreed value on the bike by $3500.00.

    Insure my ride or Shannons.

Insure my ride let you option for limited use, ie not main form of transprt bringing down the cost of insurance.

unless you share your ride , you can do a few other things such as nominate yourself as the only rider , increase the excess .. earlier this year i did this and managed to drop insurance on my bikes by around 40%

I was with e-bike, but they would drop my payments from year to year so I rang IMR (insure my ride) and they were about $100 cheaper so I'll see how I go.

Rang Swann up today and told them i was not happy and was going to look at other insurance companies...."oh dont do that". They dropped the price from $578.00 to $519.00 and put the value up to 24k again. Then they had the cheek to ask me a questionare what i thought of them...ffs.

Just rang Shannons...i am going with them now. Bike insured for $24k and cost me $446.02 per year, the only catch is that i wont be insured if i ride it to or from work. Thats ok by me as i ride to get away from work. The price was $424.78 if i wanted to insure it for $22.5k, i went with the other amount. Westerns QBE wont insure it for that amount. Thanks for all the help...all good now.

I heard about Ryno a little while ago. Not sure if its true, but they want rating 1, locked garage and alarms fitted? Otherwise they sounded ok.

I have mine with Shannon's and while it's not cheap to insure a chopper, they did cover it for $50,000.

In April of 08, a P-plater did a u-turn straight into it, the fuckin bimbo. Anyway, the chopper was only doing around 50 kph through Maroochydore when it happened, so just a low speed, knock it and the rider arse off and the bike copped a few scratches etc.

Cost to redo the paint, and everything that was scratched, came in at $18,149.80 and the accessor (Spelling?) came out and viewed the bike within 5 days and signed off for all repairs to be done.

No trimming of costs, no bitchin, just told the boys, FIX IT. (I was laid up at home)

Bike was repaired, back out on the road sooner than i was, as i got a broken shoulder blade out of it, but that worked out ok too, as little Miss Blind Bimbo's insurer, Suncorp, paid me a sum of money, seeing as i was declared 100% in the right, her 100% in the wrong.

Go with Shannons, as you might save a few $$$$$ with another insurer, but it's claim time when you really find out if you got the best deal, not when you actually take out the insurance.

Thats my 2 cents worth, i'll go back to my corner now....

I had the bike insured with Shannons 3 yrs ago, cheapest premium I could find  (limited use, limited kms, old farts clause) and better coverage than anyone else (they cover helmets, jackets etc including pillion).  18 months ago I insured my HR with 'em aswell which dropped the price of both policies. Last month I got 'em to insure the 4wd, house n contents (yep, they do that too now) and 'cos I had everything insured with Shannons the premium prices dropped on the lot with better $ coverage. I now pay $145 less per year in insurance premiums than I did 3 years ago with RAC, for better cover.
