There are two queries I have regarding nightser wiring.
1. I have raised the tank 3 inches with a lift kit off ebay (32 bucks oz) and now want to hide the wiring under the tank. I want to be able to see between the rocker covers and frame. The problem is I don't have the tools to make a coil relocation bracket (which relocates the ignition and the coil between the rocker covers). Anyone know if anyone has made them and sells them.
I am not sure if you can relocate the majority of the wires and leave the coil where it is. It seems that the relocation of these wires means a relocation of the coil. Also there is a plastic cover that protects the wires and I am not sure how to remove this. There is cable ties that I can cut but there appears to be some plastic screw type object with a flat head (about 2cm in diameter) near the coil. What the frig is this thing and how the hell do you remove it. I prefer to not go snapping and breaking things off in case I get in the shit and need to replace the original cover.
2. Also I notice guys have put solo seats on nighstsers but I can't see the engine management computer underneath. Have they relocated it or have they bought or made a plate to cover it?
pretty simple no tank lift kit required gunna have a dig at it during the week let me know how ya go

Thanks Pistol Pete (do the chicks call ya Pete the Meat with the real treat to eat) Only kidding.
Thats one of the best threads I have read. It really clarifies the whole operation. Thanks heaps. Can't wait till the bracket and mount arrive, so I can get cracking on this essential mod of coolness.
did a quick wire relocation took the ugly plastic cover of under tank got a bracket from a mate to relocate my coil ignition barrel gunna lift the tank and inch ,inch and a half to tuck the rest of wiring loom under later in week will do some pics thenof the coil relocation
Thats a much cleaner job than I did. I'll have to have another crack at it. I just couldn't get the wires high enough under the tank.
The coil relocation is now done, however the stock leads are the wrong length. One is too short and one is too long, so I have ordered some Taylor Leads from the US. Do it yourself jobs. Once I get those installed next week I will post some new pics. I got the bike going in for the heavy breather and race tuner install on Wednesday. Then the bike is finished - I'm doing nothing else to it.
However I do like the regular air filter, I am now wondering if the heavy breather will take away from the old school look I have developed.
Also pulled the tank raise back from 3 inch to 2 inch. Since I dropped the 11.5's in I felt that a 3 inch rise was robbing the nice lines created by the lower rear end. Lookin forward to posting pics of the final product.
well i relocated the coil with help of a mate today used the 1200c horn bracket and made a lug with some flat bar from bunnings to bolt the coil onto cut the ignition bracket up and put an 1 1/2 inch lift on the tank used me mates old short lead of his bike gunna get some 10mm leads made up of qld race leads kallangur next week $30 for two all up about $50 buck and 2hrs of time priceless
Thats a really nice job, starting to make me think that I should have done the same thing with the ignition bracket.
And you got the wires so neat, they must be packed pretty tight under the tank. Did you use heaps of electrical tape. I used 3/4 roll of black electrical tape and thick cable ties. It was very difficult to align all the little wire joining boxes in such a way that they all neatly fited under the tank. It was like a jigsaw puzzle. What tools did you use for the coil bracket - Hacksaw to cut to length, drill with metal bit and a vice to bend the metal.
My bike is going in for heavy breather and DYNO tommorow. Then the leads coming next week.
thats it used the hacksaw a drill and bent in the vice with a rubber mallet sprayed it with pressure pack gloss black and baked in the oven on low heat for 1/2 hour and wallah!didnt use a shit load of tape just enoungh to cover most wires did it tight as and use that wire conjut over the coil wires as seen in pic tucked all the connections in the tunnel of the tank sat down nice and snug
MY new Harley Seveny-two. Just finished a 3' tank light, relocated the ignition and coils to left side of motor, and relocated horn underneath the seat.
