..... fitted new V&H 2:1 Pro Pipe last Thursday and everything was going great until today. Still using the map that I had dyno'd for the short shots. Highway fuel use is around 20km/ltr whereas the short shots were around 15.
the problems started today as I was going through Raymond Terrace around 3pm. Temp was probably pretty high as the news today said something like 39 in Sydney. Anyway I started getting the odd backfire and what seems like fuel starve on one or two occasions. It backfired say 7-8 times in 50km and then did it 4 or 5 times and engine light came on - stopped and read code a P0373.
Have limited numbers so tried to ring KC but no answer so range Frasers in Perth. Told them what was fitted only to be told they don't know what the code meant. Fuck me it took 2 seconds on internet to find P0373 CKP Sensor Intermittent EFI. My guess is a bad connection, heat or something amis.
Can Scotty or someone give me their thought before I take it somewhere in morning.... and who to talk to to see if i can get a dyno done tomorrow
Cheers guys
PS: the guy at Frasers was going to call me back. Lucky I dodn't wait as I would still be in the Newcastle-Sydney freeway
Probably head to the closest (Trivett) dealer first up.........
anyone know a good dyno that can do PCIII?
no sensors in NSW... closest is Shepparton and the next closest if the wharehouse in Melbourne, but was told that it was no guarantee that it was in stock.... have go the guy in Shepparton to hold for me.
Got to Albury/Wodonga last night.... behaved itself most of the way, with the odd hicup most of the way. Just before Wangaratta it played up no end so diconnected the PCIII by the roadside (15 minute job) but made little difference. Noticed some pin discolouring towards one end of the connector, about 4 pins in from the end will try and clean up when I get to Shepparton and fit the new sensor
thanks for all your help guys...... very much appreciated
I have left the bike with Bendigo Custom Cycle. They will have a look and give me a price. I will also talk with RAA to see my options in getting bike back to Adelaide.... will do the work myself if they will transport. Alternatively will look at truck hire, but if BCC fix it (that is if not too expensive), then I will fly Adelaide - Melbourne, then take train to Bendigo and ride back to Adelaide....
.... still don't understand the relationship to heat. Half way to BCC it just died and had to push the last kilometer. Did have some help for a hundred meters or so on the leadup to a roundabout but couple great guys or i never would have made it
A guy from Adelaide who waited with us from around 7:45 to 9:30 is heading back to Adelaide around 12:30 today and is giving us a lift so I can spend the weekend with my kids whooohooo.... by coincidence he was staying in same hotel that the RAA booked us into.... well I hope it is a coincidence
well it seems that BCC have fixed the bike so RAA will only pay for me to collect the bike.... so off to Melbourne/Bendigo tomorrow to pick up the bike and riding it back via Melbourne and GOR. Be back in Adelaide Friday evening.
uncle ho. I have similar problems with my bike however i was able to overcome some of the misfire issues with a quarter choke and was able to get it home. Big Question. did you ever find out what was the cause of the problem and what was done to fix it
