hoping some of you blokes on here can answer a few questions for me.  I will be looking to buy my first harley in the next few months after years of riding dirt bikes. i am pretty keen on a superglide custom but have a few questions.  what was the first year they were available with a 6 speed box ?   How much room is there on a superglide for a 6ft3 bloke ? as you might have guessed  i havent  ridden a dyna yet and my closest HD dealer is at least a couple of hours drive away so i am after as much info as i can get before i start driving allover the friggin place looking for the right bike. will be after nothing older than a 2006 model. its either a dyna or a road king and i dont think i can convince the dragon to stretch the budget far enough for a late model low km road king

Mate fatbob is good thing, and look for the twin discs!

But, i can't complain on Superglide, LOVE IT. First harley for me too, it's full size harley but alot more athletic than road king etc and handles considerably better than any softail.

So I would strongly reccomend you go for something in the FXD range mate.

Also, the year etc your saying I'd say you'll find yourself in same boat as me, which is better value just to buy brand new, it's the kind of thing you really get attached to and want to look after as well so it's better to have from new. Unlike dirtbikes as you mention which I always buy a few years old.

As you say, get something 2006 onwards and it should have everything you need. Proximity alarm/keyless action is good as well as the 6th gear for touring.

For me i didnt care if it was FXD or FXDC but in the end I'm very glad I got the Custom as I take a bit of pride in all the extra chrome shiny bits and even have added a few more!.

As I've suggested to lots of people you need to go to proper ride day and take each bike for a 15 mintue fang before you can even start to decide for yourself. You'll be surprised how good and how hard you can throw around a Fatboy for example, but if your like me, Dyna will become a clear winner.

You should be able to secure FXDC for 27k with all the extras you want. Compare this figure with what your looking at for a top notch 2nd hand example, compare this with the good finance you get these days (e.g .Trivetts group go through BMW finance which is excellent).

Do the maths, do the ride comparisons, and either way, do yourself a fucking favour and get your arse on a HD pronto.

mate checked out a new 2010 super glide cos it looked realy hot chrome wheels are different but then i sat on it and went oh shit you gotta be under 6 foot. it didnt fit me,iam 6ft 2 got back on my fatbob and thought fuck this is good its made for me dont be a wus go buy a new one make sure its got a tru track.this is also my first harley before i had a rocket 111 way to big and lost 10 grand i will never sell my fatbob ever.never thought a bike could have so much soul. as the last guy said get your arse on one and if you dont put a deposit on one straight away then your only dreaming. i put a chrome kit sceaming eagle breather v & h short shots with baffles and a computer.
remember a harley is an investment and a lifestyle look at how many there are.

I think that the Fatbob is value for money. It is a reasonably priced bike that one could afford.
