Hallo fellow Harley riders. an others
I,m on my way to see my daughter in Brisbane for a couple of weeks riding from Manjimup South West WA on my new 2010 heritage softalil classic.
I had a sudden rush of blood to the brainbox whilst at out Manjimup Lions Club meeting a couple of weeks ago and asked if it would be allright to raise money for an event we support every year for lads with Cancer and their Dads whilst riding my bike to Brisbane and Back..
We call it Lads and Dads week where the kids can run amuck and as a result wear their Dads out by the end of the week at a small town called Boyup Brook..We organise all sorts of sporting activities, put them on a bus and they tour the southwest doing lots of great stuff.I with a good mate of mine cook them breakfast each morning, and help out with whatever I can during the week.I have also taken the job looking after the evening part of the camp by doing really cool things like everybody having a birthday party, eating cool party food, playing birthday party games and later sitting around a Bon Fire cooking marshmellows and singing and lots of lauging.Anyway if any one is interested in reaching into their pockets and donating something to assist us to make the camp a success it would be greatly appreciated. I am not asking for truck loads of money just something to help the cause.
I depart manjimup on December the 12th in the morning and expect to return leaving Brisbane on the 8th January.
If anyone is interested even just to come along part of the way for the ride i reckon it will be really great,
My proposed itinery is as follows.
Manjimup to Esperance. 12 December
Esperance to Cocklebiddy 13 December
Cocklebiddy to Ceduna 14 December.
Ceduna to Port Augusta 15 December
Port Augusta to Willcania 16 December
Willcania to Gillgandra 17 December
Gillgandra to Goondawindi 18 December
Goondawindi to Brisbane 19 December
The return Journey the reverse of the forward journey departing 8 january arriving back in Manjimup 8 days later.
I also plan to call by all the police stations on the way and bite them for money as well, even the boys in blue who want to stiop me on the way. I guess I have given them enough over the years it would be great to get some back for a great cause.
The approval has been sanctioned by Lions Club International and Camp Quality and I am funding the travelling and Accomodation expenses myself. Well i,m taking a sleeping bag and a tent and plan to sleep wherever looks great.
As the departure date getscloser I will be able to update you all whats happening more.
Oh yeah any Freemasons my fellow brothers, on any motorcycles are also invited.
Its great to see the kids with cancer laughing and smiling and having a good time, oh yeh thier moms are not around so the kids and dads tend to let their hair down a bit more than normal.
I leave the weekend before and doing Perth-Brisbane on a slightly different route but if we line up along the way I am happy to ride with you.
Good luck with the cause and the ride.
cheers Surly
