    Jim,
Despite being 38 I had a similar experience with my house/car insurer when I got a quote for the bike. They quoted me $1100. I ended up using Swan which is an insurer that Peter Stevens deal with, I ended up paying around $450 with them.

I use Swan through Peter Stevens also.

Excellent service, I know this through experience as some dim witted female driver reversed her car into my bike only after 6 weeks of owner ship.   Had know trouble with the insurance company what so ever.

Funny thing is though it is insured in my wifes name as I never had insurance before but I am down as 100% rider.

Hi Jim... not sure what state you are in, but if you have access to Western QBE give them a call. They are the cheapest I can find and Swan have been known to say that they will match WQBE. Tony

As above..... try Western QBE, Swan and Shannons. Shannons and probably the others will give you a discount as and when you put your car with them too! Be a bit careful though as some companies may be very picky if your bike is not thoroughly locked up at night.

I'm in the $400 to $600 range, full comp with full no claim bonus with WQBE
Sometimes, getting older is an advantage (except that I occasionally smell like wee)

With insurance....what you pay for is not what you get.  Look at the fine print and stay with a reputable Insurer.  I have used Swann, NRMA, CGU and Shannons...Not a problem.  Then again I have never had a claim!!!!

I originally went with QBE, but recently changed all my insurance to CGU, via Savings & Loans Credit Union. When I contacted CGU directly they said they don't insure bikes. Not so if you go through a credit union though evidently, and they did a good deal. Matched my yearly rate, only they did it with monthly payments. Fine by me.

    Cheers

Hmmmmm..... I've been with Western QBE for 5 years, no claims etc, $24,000 agreed on my WG at $454 this year. I know that the premium varies a fair bit according to location so I reckon Crasher must live in just the right place!!!
