I've just found out my new Nightster arrives in the country in 4 weeks..... WAHOO!!!!
Can anyone recommend where to order a US Style Nightster side plate from? Or where not to if you've had any bad experiences.
Thanks
Andrew
What colour did your wife go for mate? I find myself pinching her ride in preferance to my fatty.
Hey guys, BTW, legality-wise the rear fender without the ugly black extension piece is also illegal... needs to be 45o from the vertical apparently..... This is what the 60318-07 license plate bracket mount assembly, left side piece looks like:
I was also seriously thinking about picking up the sideplate but after shortening the rear plate piece and replacing the tailight with an LED numberplate I was happier with the way the ass-end looked and decided to leave it be. And after riding one over here in showery rain and getting absolutely covered in road grime and getting off looking like I'd been out on the dirtbike, I've realised the rear plate has some practicality too in this case. Of course that's only a benefit if you are not allergic to rain

Side plate is definitely still sexier though!!!
I was dead keen to get the side plate on my Nightster as well, couldn't track down the original bracket that they come stock with in the states so ended up ordering an after-market side plate kit. Fitted it up and was happy as Larry - that was on the Friday night, the cops pulled me over on the first outing on Saturday morning. Didn't do anything else wrong and they went right over it. They let me off on a fine but warned me to change it or next time they'd sting.
I thought I'd be OK and they'd be a bit liberal on it (seeing it fits the retro look of the bike), seems I was wrong. So, if anyone wants a side plate bracket, I've got one for sale.
Hi where is the LED light on that plate? btw looks awesome.

Bernie, someone else had the same problem. Literally the first time he took the NIghtster out he was booked and hit with a fine (I think $280 or so). I real shame. I've compromised with the Iron by getting a black and silver plate fitted hard up under the fender, without the extension, and without the rear reflector. Looks probably as good as you can get it and no problems with PC Plod yet.
Thanks for that, is the led wiring easy to setup? Does it come with instructions?
Im looking at getting the (8202-52)
Yes for the number plate light. It is quite easy. Just a matter of removing the wires from the existing taillight and re-soldering the new wires in. More fiddly than difficult. Have fun with it; look forward to seeing the end result. I have more photos of the process of my plate change over here.
