My xl1200c 2008 has a  intermittent high idle problem, when it warms up the idle speed will sometimes stay high till the bike comes to a complete stop then it drops. but if i just coast to a stop it remains high has anyone else experienced this and if so what is the solution?

My nighty does that high idle thing. Have you installed new handlebars and grips?

Mine is not as bad now after I did a few tweaks to the hand grips and adjusted the throttle cable tension. Improved the situation by about 200 percent, but still not perfect. Maybe needs a few more tweaks.

i have a 07 custom 1200 and it does has done it from new depending on the weather but pull up at lights and idles faster for a moment then drops to normal, might be due to the high flow heads and cams in it ???? it is a higher performance motor from the factory so might be something like that

hi, i'am not 100% sure but my electrian says it's not a bad thing to disconect the earth off the battery  for 1/2 to 1hr somtimes to help the computer  re adjust it self a bit , ,if you change air cleaner or mufflers  you can lean the mixture out , can  give a high idle for a couple of seconds before settling  to idle @ 900 RPM. could be too lean anyway  ?, i'am a carb fella easy to adjust for me ,  cheers
