Could not say, but just of interest, back in 1980 our $1 was worth $1.15us, a new big twin was $6,500, in 1979 the same bike was $6,000 & in 1981 same bike again was $7,000, in that time span the AU$ stayed same value, they just used to put the price up $500 each year.

but you could do a killing is you went over bought used bikes from USA or parts, as our $ was strong, no internet eather.

Seriously, the dollar getting better against the greenback just means the dealers get to screw us over even more. I love Harleys , but if all the Aus dealers went out of business tomorrow I'd probably say it serves them right. If it wasn't for the fact I can order things in from overseas I'd buy a fucking honda...*cough*

    Supply and Demand..

US of A........300 odd million people

    Oz.......20 odd million people

AND..we are an Island and freight isn't cheap.....yet it's not as dear as the Stealerships would have you think.

Look at new Harley prices in the states..it's nutz....compared to what a new HD is here.

At the rate the US govt. is printing and handing out money we're gonna have the weakest dollar in the world

It's farkin crazy the difference in HD prices between the US and AUS.
