Works springs

I have just put a set of works springs in my front forks,i got talked out of putting Progressive springs in.

First of all there is actually 2 springs that go in one long goes in first then a washer then the short spring , a crossover tube goes inside the last spring these come in 3 different lengths and determine the point when the springs go from soft to firm; the short one is soft ,long one firm, i chose the middle one,on top of that is another washer add oil close her up and off you go.

Trouble was that there was a gap between the top of the spring and the top of the fork tube, so there was no pre-load. A pre-load tube comes in the box but it states that i won't be needing it. I tried fitting the ones that were supplied but they were too long and i couldn't compress the forks enough to get the forkcaps back on so i cut some smaller ones and after 2 hrs i managed to get the caps back on  BUT it just doesn't feel right yet, i'll take it for a longer test ride tomorrow and see if i like it any better.

Anyone else tried these springs and if so what do you think of them??

Went for a ride two up on the twisties today, no wallowing in the bends and no bottoming out, so far so good.

Hey Pom, I have the works dual rates in my sporty forks. It has taken a bit of fine-tuning to get them how I want them - but I have now done that and am happy with the outcome.
What type of bike are you riding? Depending how far down the fork tube the springs were, you may have gotten some preload from the fork cap, as the threads add about an inch. Ideally you want to measure the forks when they are fully extended on the lift and again when fully compressed, then adjust the length of the preload spacer so that when you sit on the bike the front forks compress between 1/4 and a 1/3 of that length. But I think most reckon that's too much futzing around, especially when the fork caps are a pain in the ass to get back on.
Which length spacers did you use?

oil weight and amount can improve the handlin ,you can use lighter oil when the sprind rate s been improved ,it flows quicker and has a sensitive feel with stock or progressive springs you need heavier weight oil
