Flipping mirrors on 2010 Iron

I decided the mirrors are hopeless so tried to flip mine but can't on the right because of the placement of the turn indicator. Left was easy and it does seem to make a big difference but I've had to put them back to normal. Has something changed since the 2009? Lots of people of flipped those and said it was easy. Any ideas? Thanks everyone.

    Hiya

I checked my wifes 2009 Low against my newly arrived 2010 Iron, and they are the same. I hope you have tried to move the indicators first (there is an allen bolt grub screw holding them in place). Or you could change to Low style bars, as the mirror placement is  excellent on my wifes bike, and I  found that precise alignment and adjustment can make them acceptable on the Iron. Hope this helps.

    Cheers

LISA: Naturally you can see ok from your mirrors because when they designed this bike they did it just for you - everything about it is your dream bike - you must know someone at HD!  :)

EDDIE: Thanks for that. I noted the screw to remove the indicator but can see that if I take it off and flip the mirror the indicator won't go back on. Do you agree? How are you liking the Iron? Lisa is in heaven and I've never had so much fun.

    Hey

Loosen the screw, and you will find it can be adjusted away from the area just enough.

Loving the bike...can't stop either riding it, or just staring at it in the garage. After thirty some years of riding, this bike has to be the most fun to ride and own. And that tailight/indicator setup has to be seen to be believed!!

So, are you happy with the SE mufflers?

    Cheers

    Eddie

The SE mufflers haven't arrived yet (no black ones in Oz) but I love the stock sound anyway. Like you I can't believe how good it is and every time I park it I get to have a chat with an admirer. Funny that a bike so raw has such appeal compared to much fancier bikes. It oozes character. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a crack at it.

    AAHH Yes

You can't afford to stop anywhere, unless you are prepared to be involved in a long, admiring conversation..... (about the bike...). I found that the stock mufflers are perfectly acceptable, especially with the addition of the attention of a 7.1mm drill......at least once (my wifes) or twice (a little louder, but also deeper and throatier)...........

Eddie you are a genius. I didn't realise the stem on the indicators was so long. At its full length the mirror goes on fine. Thanks a heap. Gil

Truth is Lisa, neither of us owns one - we are just so jealous of yours we have been pretending... :)

I'll post some shots as soon as the black mufflers arrive, however I've grown to like the stock chrome ones. I'll stick with the black though. I only have 180 ks on the clock but already can feel the motor running freer. Like Eddie (and you  too I bet) I occasionally disappear into the garage just to look at it.

Also, even though you are doing ok with the mirrors, I am in shock over the improvement with them flipped. You get a real panoramic view from the left lane, behind you, and the right lane. I don't even have a proper blind spot now and feeling safer has made the riding even more fun.

Stand by for pictures - soon I hope. Cheers, Gil
