After todays ride I had a sobering thought (could'nt drink much-double demerits) I did the speed limit in most places and only realy stretched it overtaking cages. The power and speed I have is more than adequate in those circumstances. So the question is what advantage is to be got from increasing HP and speed if legally you can't use it?. Seems that the only people that gain the most are the dealers who happily sell all the stuff to make us go faster and handle better at speed.

The problem is that even with all the increases in HP etc most stock jappers and Euros (they are cheaper too) will still outperform our Harleys.

So my conclusion is that louder pipes and a EFI upgrade is all that is required for a reasonable turn of speed and having some fun.

My Harley is still the best bike I've had

theres nothink better than blowing a japper from the lights with a HD   i usually run into 3rd  n hit the brakes as after that ur fuckt and i dont wana loss demerits aginst the big jappers that is , R1s etc

I kind of agree with what you are saying BT, top speed or high crusing speed is pretty much irrevelant today. The cops have so much power (and getting more each day) to take your licence, confiscate ya bike or lock you up for repeat offences (the thought of sleeping next to Bubba in a cell keeps me legal).

Ya can get up to speed as quickly as possible and still be legal.

I'm not into 160kph cruising like fat hairy windsock, but I do like to go around corners.
If I was going to spend any more money on upgrading my Road King, it would be suspension before more power, particularly the rear.
Cranked over on a bend at speed, once it hits a bump, the rear end starts a wallow that doesn't stop until I straighten up. My money would be better spent fixing that than gaining extra ponies.
When it counts, that would make me faster (and safer) than a power increase.

well for me, I'm old and slow.
I feel lucky to have survived my youth on fast sports bikes considering the crazy shit we used to do. I can't afford any fines plus I want to be around for my kids growing up so, I just kick back and cruise. Every day I see a different Fwit zipping through the traffic - dead man riding.

Personally I didn't buy a cruiser to go fast, it doesn't have the handling or the brakes. With the basic mods I have the bike is really comfy, looks cool, sounds cool and has plenty of power for my needs.

FOR those of u who dont no wat the DARKSIDE is its using a CAR tyre on a motorcycle like a trumph/goldwing etc

thats the 1 i was talking about , must be u and a mate had the gas on them , havent seen it since the CMC from the toll couple yrs back , did it go bang after that i gather , remember playing with the trumpys that day

dont think ya can beat the edelbroke HD NOS system, i never had a problem with it thank god

be even better if lushy new about the thundermaxes took mine to coffs nsw to have it sust out
